An afternoon Sunday 13th January 2019
Time: 1:30 – 4:00pm
Cost: Standard $70 + $20 Materials / Early-Bird $55 + $20 Materials
Venue: Whitireia Kapiti Campus
In this class, an ideal one for those who look after children in school holiday, we will create a range of simple craft items with things found around the home.
Beads for necklaces and bracelets out of old magazines, brochures etc.
Next up will be tissue paper flowers, make a lovely hand made bouquet using tissue or crepe paper and pipe cleaners.
A simple fabric and button brooch, great for older kids, these would be fun on lapels or beanies. Make a nice little gift idea for Mothers Day.
Making caterpillars and butterflies from paper plates. There are many craft uses for paper plates, this is just a couple of ideas of many. You will also get a few more ideas with some give away pages, such as octopuss, fish etc
Colour cut and fold paper native birds, make 1 or make a flock. I designed these birds as a craft item at the 2016 Storylines book day for children in Wellington. I shall have sheets of these, which you can have a go with, and copies available to take home and photocopy for further use.
Faerie Glen Creations
Creating a little magic every day.
I was always told as a child from family to teachers and friends, I was away with the faeries. Well now I can say I have made a career of it.
Everything I learnt to create as a child has become in some part the art I create as an adult. Cutting out and pasting in scrapbooks has led to decoupage, paper doll clothes and later sewing for my dolls, has led to work as self-employed costume designer, plus a few rock and roll petticoats along the way.
My first job as a florist, doing the apprenticeship has taught me design and colour mixing. I still design wedding bouquets under Faerie Glen Creations Floral Design.
Wanting a chance in direction I spend some time at Whitirea adding to my drawing, design and textile skills. Illustration is my passion and am now teaching myself the joys of photoshop and some computer magic to further enhance my paintings.
The ongoing theme in much of the work I choose to do will have a bit of the fay or faerie about it.
Look forward to meeting you if you choose either of my workshops at Kapiti summer School.
Peace, love and a little faerie magic.
