Kapiti Stables is situated very near the entrance gates in the beautiful Queen Elizabeth Park. The big black stable building is on your right. We provide a unique trekking experience and opportunity to build a relationship with horses. Our Clydesdales, gentle ponys and large Gisborne Breed horses provide the opportunity for inexperienced and confident riders to trek through rolling hills, natural waterways and regenerated wetlands down to the beach or up to Whareroa Farm.

Kapiti Stables believe in building a positive and close relationship between the rider and the horse and therefore will be offering two different equine experiences. Level One is tailored towards beginner and intermediate riders.

Level Two is based for confident and recently experienced riders who can easily manage an unknown horse in an unknown environment. Riders will interact with a horse personally and participate in horse and rider activities before embarking on longer treks along the beach and surrounding hilly farmland.

As we operate in a public regional park we are often at the mercy of variables outside our control i.e. drones in the sky, bike riders, and contractors using equipment. While we always train our horses and plan for the worst-case scenario; Level Two riders will need to be able to control a horse, if in the unusual circumstance, a horse gets a fright. In addition, they must be confident riding up and down hills.

Please contact Rachael Martin, Kapiti Stables on phone 021 027 16885 before booking the Level Two course. Rachael will give you a code number for booking to be processed.
