Warren is running taster courses in Blacksmithing at his forge. He runs Endangered Crafts which is committed to seeing a resurgence in the old crafts. Warren has been introducing people to blacksmithing for over ten years through his taster courses. He provides a fun, hands on memorable experience at his forge. Experience the thrill of shaping red hot metal with your own hammer blows. Take home items made with your own hands. The first seeds of interest in blacksmithing were sown in Warrens Grandfathers workshop where as a child he saw him make his own forge. Forty years later Warren began collecting blacksmithing gear and when the time was right set up his Forge at Forest Lakes, Otaki.
Along the way he received a lot of assistance, and helpful tuition from James, the itinerant blacksmith who has been part of the furniture at most of the major NZ festivals and shows over the last 30 years. Jamess insights were invaluable in getting started.
Warren sees himself as a Crafts person or an enthusiast in the old crafts rather than an artist, (and no he doesnt work with horses). Warren produces all manner of forged items including but not limited to Rams head fire pokers, Vintage Woodworking tools - Shingle froes, Draw knives, Whittling knives, Bone carving chisels, fire furniture - tripods, trivets, skillets, candle holders, bathroom and kitchen fittings.
When he is not forging metal, he enjoys time spent with family and making shavings in his shed.
